Arbitration is a means of dispute resolution whereby two disputing parties agree to submit their dispute to a neutral third party for determination.

An agreement of the parties to submit their disputes to arbitration is typically found in the form of an arbitration clause which is incorporated into a contract between the parties. In arbitration, an independent arbitrator will hear details of the dispute from the parties and give a final decision on the issue.

The process is typically quicker, more flexible, and confidential compared to court proceedings. However, given that arbitration is very similar to a court case in other ways solicitors are usually engaged by the parties.

Arbitration is governed by the Arbitration Act 2010, aligning with international standards.
