Aileen is a Partner in the Employment Law Group.

Aileen is a graduate of University College Dublin and qualified as a solicitor in 1994. She joined Daniel Spring & Company in 1996 and was appointed a Partner in 2019.

Aileen has extensive experience in litigation, particularly in employment law and equality law, advising and representing clients in both contentious and non-contentious employment matters and on all aspects of the employment relationship from recruitment to termination. She advises and represents clients, including directors, executives, employees, consultants, employers and trade unions, on employment issues in a wide range of sectors, including pharmaceutical, retail, banking and healthcare. She has represented parties in employment litigation before the Circuit Court, High Court and Supreme Court and before all employment and industrial relations tribunals. She deals with workplace investigations, grievances and disciplinary hearings and mediations.
Aileen also practises and advises in the area of disciplinary and regulatory law. She represents medical professionals such as doctors, pharmacists and physiotherapists before their relevant regulatory bodies.
Recent matters on which Aileen has advised include:

  • Advising various employees on protected disclosures/whistleblowing complaints involving internal and external investigations, Workplace Relations Commission claims, statutory investigations and High Court proceedings.
  • Proceedings before the Workplace Relations Commission regarding discriminatory dismissal on the grounds of disability.
  • Advising employees attending before Commissions of Investigation and Tribunals of Inquiry.
  • Advising and negotiating for senior employees in relation to termination of employment.

Aileen is a member of the Law Society of Ireland, the Employment Law Association of Ireland, the Irish Women Lawyers Association and the Dublin Solicitors Bar Association. Aileen is a contributing author, on health and safety law, to a leading employment textbook. She has repeatedly been positively ranked by Chambers Europe.
