Professional Regulatory Practice

Our Professional Regulatory team routinely advise professionals before their regulatory bodies including the Medical Council, the Dental Council and the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland.

In particular our team assists and advises general practitioners, hospital doctors and/or hospital consultants in drafting responses to complaints to the Preliminary Proceedings Committee of the Medical Council. In addition they represent medical practitioners facing allegations of poor professional performance and/or professional misconduct at Inquiries held under Part 8 of the Medical Practitioners Act 2007 (the “2007 Act”) and/or ex-parte proceedings brought by the Medical Council under Section 60 of the 2007 Act.

We also advise nursing staff in relation to complaints to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.

The Firm advises a wide range of clients on the areas of data protection and privacy law. This area of law, with its ongoing developments at both European and domestic levels, has become an increasingly challenging regulatory issue for businesses. It is vital for clients, from a reputational and compliance perspective, to be aware not only of evolving requirements but imminent changes and to ensure that their work processes and business approach are in compliance with such requirements.
